RIYC Announces Season Opening Coaching Regatta

The Royal Irish Yacht Club announces the launch of the Season Opening Coaching Regatta. Described as “a fantastic event to shake off the cobwebs with expert on the water coaching” by RIYC Committee member Paul Colton, this regatta offers added value in the form of post-event video analysis delivered by Prof, Des McWilliam and Philip Watson.

The event will also provide off the water sessions dealing with techniques, tactics and racing rule changes for 2013. Saturday will consist of practice starts, upwind trim and windward mark roundings and will integrate three races. Sunday will focus on downwind trim, gybing and leeward mark roundings and a final race to pull it all together.

“Skippers that will be bringing on new crew for 2013 or those competitive teams looking to grease the team cogs early in the season and before the ICRA Nationals will benefit from this world class training weekend” encouraged Mr. Colton.

The event is open and non-DBSC boats are more than welcome to attend and ICRA members are encouraged to support this initiative. For those trailered boats from outside Dublin the Royal Irish Yacht Club will provide lift facilities.

The cost for this event is €50 per boat, which is “a continuation of the RIYC’s policy to provide really good and value for money events for skippers”, added Paul Colton.
