Galway – April 24th, 2018
Spring has most definitely sprung and thoughts are quickly turning to the sailing year ahead for a lot of people. No so in Galway where for some time now the focus has been firmly on bringing the ICRA National Championships to the City of The Tribes for the first time.
With more than 30 boats already entered and a world class race management team in place the racing promises to be keen and competitive. Regatta Chairman Martin Breen has reported strong interest in the event from all over the Island and further afield. The Irish Cruiser Racing Association’s Vice-Commodore (Richard Colwell) and Commodore (Simon McGibney) are confirmed entrants and Martin is confident of that entries from Scotland and Northern Ireland will confirmed very soon.
The early bird entry is open until May 31st so skippers are encouraged to get their entry in early. Accommodation officer Aoife Macken has secured another 10 rooms in The Victoria Hotel which are being kept for a few more weeks and is encouraging everyone to book their accommodation sooner rather than later. She has compiled a comprehensive list of accommodation to suit all budgets which can be found on the ICRA website. Her contact details are on the website should anyone require further advice or information. She has worked with those that have sent in queries to secure the right accommodation, and she is happy to report that there are still plenty of beds for everyone.
Galway will be the place to be from Aug 15th-18th. Don’t miss it!
